Women Have
Strong Showing at Reebok Boston Invitational
Boston, Mass. - The women’s team
returned to action at the Reebok Boston Invitational held at the
Reggie Lewis Center, Friday night. Jenny Gardynski’s (Everett,
Mass.) first place finish in her heat in the the Women’s 3000
Meter Run headlined a number of gutsy performances turned in by the
Skyhawks. Gardynski's 12th overall finish was second behind
freshman Kelly O'Toole's (Nashua, N.H.) 10th place mark with a time
of 10:18.07.
Gardynski, a junior, took first place in her heat in the
Women’s 3000 Meter Run. Jen’s
10:32.49 mark defeated Boston College’s Jessica Rogers and
Kelly Gross for the top spotin her heat.
Sophomore Andrea Topalis (Simsbury, Conn.) finished
13th in same heat, respectfully. O'Toole's 10:18.07
provided the top spot for the Skyhawks in that event.
The Skyhawks earned four top five finishes on the
day. Freshman Angela Miller (Brockton, Mass.)
finished just moments behind UMass Amherst’s Anna Uretsky for
fifth place in her heat for the Women’s 55 Meter
Dash.
Rookie Ashley George (Seekonk, Mass.) finished neck-and-neck with New Hampshire’s Emily Nardone and Amanda Hutchins. George’s mark of 1:03.82 earned her fifth place in her heat for the Women’s 400 Meter Dash.
Junior Ashley Lane (Needham, Mass.) claimed
fourth place in her heat in the Women’s 500 Meter
Run. Lane finished 20th overall with
a time of 1:22.86. Katrina Harkins
(Derry, N.H.) claimed the third spot in her heat with a 29.11
finish.
The women will return to action February 2nd at the
Tufts Stampede. The events is scheduled for 11
a.m.
