Women's Results

New Haven, Conn. - The women teamed up to take home top honors in the Distance Medley, 4x 400, and 4x 800 at the Northeast-10 Championship.  Three different teams composed of four individual women were able to claim first place in their events.  The Skyhawk runners accumulated 85.5 points - good enough for third place at the games.

Throughout a challenging season the women have turned in gutsy performances.  An outstanding group-effort on Saturday was no different.  The Skyhawks began their string of victories by dominating the Distance Medley Run.  Freshmen Angela Miller (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) and Ashley George (Seekonk, Mass. Seekonk), as well as sophomore Megan Breault and junior Ashley Lane (Needham, Mass./Needham) were the ones to score gold for the Purple and White.  They combined for a 4:17.82 finish.

In the Distance Medley, senior Amanda Carnevale (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) led a team of young runners, freshmen Lindsey Booth (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) Kelly O'Toole (Nashua, N.H./Nashua South) and sophomore Katrina Harkins (Derry, N.H./Central Catholic), to first place honors.  The team's 12:55.13 finish not only claimed the top spot, it was a new Northeast-10 Championship Meet Recond.

In the final team event, a group comprised of Hilary Curtis (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough), Leslie Clunie (Newburyport, Mass./Governor Dummer), Amanda Santacroce (Danvers, Mass./Danvers) and Jenny Gardinski (Everett, Mass./Everett) finished the 4x 800 Meter Run in 10:17.62.  Stonehill's final top team again included two freshmen, Curtis and Santacrose.

Gardinski, a junior, also took second in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 10:36.77.

The Skyhawks finished with 85.5 points, defeating Bryant by 15.5 for third place.  The UMass-Lowell Riverhawks (169.50 points) finished second, while Southern Connecticut (237 points) took first place.  This is the second straight year the Owls finished first at the Northeast-10 Championship.

Skyhawks coach Karen Boen received 2007-2008 Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year honors for her outstanding effort this season with the women, as well.  Boen also was named Co-Coach of the Year for the Men's team.
