Top 10 Finishes Highlight George Davis Invite

Lowell, Mass. - Sophomore Meaghan Rocha scored a win in the discus, leading a contingent of Stonehill student-athletes to top 10 finishes at the George Davis Invitational hosted by UMass-Lowell on Saturday.

Rocha, who won the event last week at the Skyhawk Invitational, had a throw of 31.41 meters, topping Vanessa Baird of Southern Maine.

Meanwhile, freshman Colleen Carmen finished second in the high jump, a week after setting the school record the event.

Classmate Angela Miller posted a 10th place finish in the 100 meters and a sixth in the 200.

Stonehill had two top 10 performances in the 800 meters with freshman Lindsey Booth finishing 4th and senior Amanda Carnevale recording a ninth place finish.

Keene State senior Jen Adams won the 3000 but Skyhawk Jen Gardynski was second. Lesley Clunie and Amanda Tripoldi were sixth and seventh respectively in the event.

Katrina Harkins (fifth) and Ana Kern (eighth) both finished in the top 10 in the 100 meter hurdles, while Ashley Lane posted a third place finish in the 400 hurdles.

The Syhawks are next in action on Saturday when they visit Weaver Track & Field Complex for the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University.
