KINGSTON, R.I.-- Both Stonehill indoor track and field teams resumed their respective schedules on Saturday afternoon with solid performances at the University of Rhode Island Sorlein Invitational, as the Skyhawk women placed fifth and the Stonehill men sixth in the predominantly Division I field.

Seniors Dana DeIngenis (Cranston, R.I.) and Kelly Chaisson (Walpole, Mass.) led the way on the women's side for the Skyhawks by placing third in the 1,000 meters and fourth in the 3,000 meters, respectively, with times of 3:00.69 and 10:32.37. Junior Amanda Carnevale (Stony Point, N.Y.) and sophomore Ashley Lane (Needham, Mass.) added fifth place finishes in the 500 meters and 400 meters, respectively, with times of 1:21.67 and 1:02.59, as Stonehill was the top Division II squad in the event won by host Rhode Island.

Senior Dana Burbank (North Andover, Mass.) enjoyed a career day on the men's side for the Skyhawks, as he won the heptathlon in his first try in the event, qualifying for the all-New England Championships in the process. Junior Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass.) set a school record with a second place finish in the 1,000 meters, posting a time of 2:27.0, while sophomore Torrey Price (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) also set a school record in the 55 meters with a time of 6.48. Senior Vinnie Williams (Springfield, Mass.) posted a second place finish in the 200 meters as well for Stonehill with a time of 22.69. The Skyhawks were the first non Division I team on the scoring list, as UConn won the event with Brown finishing second.

Both Stonehill teams will be in action next weekend at the two-day Boston University Invitational, with Friday's action beginning at 4:00 p.m. and Saturday's beginning at 10:00 a.m.
