BOSTON, Mass.-- Three individuals provisionally qualified for the upcoming NCAA championships in their respective events for the Stonehill indoor track and field squads over the weekend at the Boston University Valentine Classic held at the BU Track & Tennis Center.

Sophomores Dickie Gerry (Bow, N.H.) and David Metzger (Ellington, Conn.) provisionally qualified on the men's side for the Skyhawks in the mile and 5,000 meters, respectively, as Gerry posted a time of 4:12.01 in the mile and Metzger bettered his previous provisionally qualifying time with a mark of 14:37.70 in the 5,000 meters, setting a school record in the event in the process.

On the women's side, junior Dana DeIngenis (Cranston, R.I.) provisionally qualified in the 800 meters for Stonehill, posting a school-record time of 2:16.65 that was good for 15th place in the event. Senior Erin Smith (Brockton, Mass.) ran a personal-best time of 17:45.48 in the 5,000 meters for the Skyhawks, as she placed 20th in that event.

Stonehill and the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center will serve as the co-hosts for the 2006 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships that will take place on March 10th and 11th.

Both Skyhawk squads travel to New Haven, Conn. next Saturday to compete for their respective Northeast-10 Conference Championships that will take place at Southern Connecticut's Moore Fieldhouse beginning at 10:00 a.m.
