Chivakos, Smith Provisionally Qualify For NCAA Championships In 3,000 Meters For Women's Outdoor Track At Prestigious Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.-- Three members of the Stonehill outdoor track and field teams provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II national championships with solid performances late Thursday evening at the prestigious Penn Relays.

Senior Dianna Chivakos (South Hamilton, Mass.) and junior Erin Smith (Brockton, Mass.) were the top two Division II performers in the College 3,000 meter championship, as Chivakos placed 10th with a time of 10:03.36 and Smith followed in 11th place with a time of 10:03.81. Both runners qualified provisionally for the NCAA championships in the event in the process.

On the men’s side, senior Sean McKeon (Millbury, Mass.) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division II championships in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:16.06, as he was 11th among Division II competitors in the event.

Both Stonehill squads return to action on Sunday afternoon when the Chieftains travel to Providence, R.I. to participate in the Brown Invitational that begins at 10:00 a.m.
