Smith, Chivakos Place 12th, 15th In 5,000 Meters For Women's Indoor Track At 2005 NCAA National Championships

BOSTON, Mass.-- Senior Dianna Chivakos (South Hamilton, Mass.) and junior Erin Smith (Brockton, Mass.) both competed for the Stonehill women’s indoor track team in the 5,000 meter national championships on Saturday afternoon at the 2005 NCAA Division II National Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Smith finished 12th individually with a time of 17:27.64 in her first indoor track national championship event, while Chivakos placed 15th with a time of 17:47.44, as she competed in her second straight NCAA indoor national championship event.

Chivakos posted the 10th fastest time during the season in the 5,000 meters and is the only female athlete in Stonehill history to compete at the NCAA nationals in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track.

Stonehill begins the outdoor track and field season on Saturday, March 26th at the Northeastern Husky Invitational.
