DeIngenis Sets School Record In 800 Meters, Burbank Places Second In Long Jump For Women's Outdoor Track At Brown Springtime Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I.-- Sophomore Vinnie Williams (Springfield, Mass.) led the way for the Stonehill men’s outdoor track and field team on Sunday afternoon at the Brown Springtime Invitational with a first place finish in the 100 meters, posting a time of 11.02 seconds to win the event.

The men’s 4 X 400 relay team of junior Paul Viggiano (Trumbull, Conn.) and freshmen Richard Gerry (Bow, N.H.), Keith Gill (Brockton, Mass.) and Kevin Wolfe (Marstons Mills, Mass.) posted a winning time in the event of 3:26.50, while senior Fran Guardabascio (Mansfield, Mass.) finished third in the 800 meters for the Chieftains with a time of 1:55.08, qualifying for the all-New England Championships in the process.

On the women’s side, sophomore Dana DeIngenis (Cranston, R.I.) set a school record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:16.65 that was good for second place, while fellow sophomore Colleen Burbank (Dedham, Mass.) placed second in the long jump with a mark of 16 feet, seven inches.

Both Stonehill squads will compete for their respective Northeast-10 Conference Championships next Saturday afternoon at UMass Lowell’s Cushing Track in Lowell, Mass. beginning at 10:00 a.m.
