Women's Tennis Earns 13th NCAA Bid, Will Host East Region Bracket

EASTON, Mass. (May 7, 2019) – Stonehill College has earned the No. 2 seed from the East Region and will serve as a preliminary round host for the 2019 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships, the NCAA selection committee announced tonight.

Stonehill (14-5, 11-0 NE10), the Northeast-10 Conference regular season and tournament champions, earns its 13th NCAA Tournament bid in program history and has a first round bye as the No. 2 seed in the East Region. It marks the Skyhawks fifth-straight NCAA Tournament bid and tenth in the last 11 seasons overall after posting an undefeated regular season in the NE10 for the second-straight year and having won their last 24 regular season matches in Conference play.

Stonehill will host half of the East Regional on Monday and Tuesday, May 13 and 14, at Charles Watt Tennis Courts or at the Weymouth Club Tennis Center in the event of inclement weather. The Skyhawks await the winner of Monday's first round clash between third-seeded Goldey-Beacom College (14-4, 7-1 CACC), the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season co-champions, and sixth-seeded Concordia (N.Y.) College (15-7, 7-1 CACC), also CACC regular season co-champions, which will be played on Monday at noon. Stonehill's second round match will be played on Tuesday at noon.

Top-seeded Queens (N.Y.) College (13-3, 7-0 ECC), ranked No. 49 in the latest Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II national rankings, the East Coast Conference regular season champions, will host the other East Regional bracket. The Knights await the winner of a first round match between fifth-seeded Wilmington (Del.) University (10-8, 7-1 CACC), the CACC tournament champions and regular season co-champs, and fourth-seeded and No. 47 NYIT (17-3, 6-1 ECC), the ECC tournament champions.

The winners of the two East Regional brackets will advance to the NCAA Championships in Altamonte Springs, Florida, May 22-25.
