EASTON, Mass. (October 25, 2018) – Top-seeded Stonehill College, ranked No. 42 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II national rankings, opens its quest for an elusive sixth NE10 Tournament Championship when it hosts fourth-seeded Le Moyne College, ranked ninth in the Oracle/ITA East Region rankings, in semifinal round action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts on Friday at 1 p.m.

Admission for the NE10 Tournament is free of charge, with live results available via stonehillskyhawks.com and updates on Twitter from @GoStonehill. The winner of tomorrow's match will advance to Sunday's NE10 Championship to face the winner of tomorrow's other semifinal between third-seeded and No. 48-ranked Adelphi University (10-3, 8-3 NE10) and second-seeded Merrimack College (10-5, 9-2 NE10) at North Andover High School at 1 p.m. Sunday's championship match will be hosted by the highest remaining seed at 1 p.m.

Stonehill (11-1, 11-0 NE10), which is making its NE10 record 20th Tournament appearance, won its ninth NE10 regular season title by running undefeated through the Conference circuit for the second-straight year and sixth time in program history overall. The Skyhawks seek a return to the NE10 Championship match for the fifth-straight year and 13th time overall, having reached the final nine times over the last ten seasons. Stonehill last won the postseason championship in 2014, while also claiming titles in 2013 and 2009, to go with championships in 1991 and 1992 under the old flighted points system before the league switched to its present dual match format in 1999. The Skyhawks last won both the regular season and tournament titles in 2009, having swept three times in program history, overall.

Le Moyne (12-4, 8-3 NE10) advanced to Friday's semifinal round with a 4-1 victory over fifth-seeded University of New Haven in Syracuse on Wednesday. Sophomore Caroline St. Antoine posted both singles and doubles wins for Le Moyne, including the decisive fourth point with her 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 triumph at No. 4 singles. She paired up with classmate Marta Nunez for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles that clinched the doubles point for the Dolphins. Le Moyne is making its tenth NE10 Tournament appearance in program history, reaching the semifinal for the second time in as many seasons.


Vo is a five-time All-NE10 performer after earning second team honors at No. 2 singles and doubles.

Stonehill head coach Marc Maloney, the 2017 NE10 Coach of the Year in his fifth season, brings seven All-NE10 performers into the NE10 Tournament, including three that earned first team honors and four named All-Conference for both singles and doubles. Senior Nicole Downey, who earned All-NE10 first team honors at No. 3 doubles, along with junior Caroline Ray, enters her fourth NE10 Tournament with a combined 19-3 record in singles and doubles play. Downey and Ray won all seven of their NE10 matches and are 7-1 overall, while Downey has posted a 12-1 record overall, including 10-0 in the NE10. She owns a 93-33 overall combined record in her career, including a combined 62-7 in NE10 matches.

Sophomore Isabelle Porter and junior Alexandra Vo provide leadership at the top of the lineup for Stonehill. Porter earned All-NE10 second team honors at both No. 1 singles and doubles, along with classmate Bethany Hammond, and is ranked No. 15 in the Oracle/ITA East Region singles rankings. She is a combined 21-9 in singles and doubles play this fall, posting an 11-4 singles mark, including 8-2 in the NE10, with a 10-5 doubles record with two different partners. Porter and Hammond are 9-3 this fall, including 7-1 in the NE10, and Porter has posted a 45-20 combined record over her career, including 27-9 in singles and 16-2 in the NE10. Hammond also earned All-NE10 third team honors at No. 4 singles with an 8-3 record overall, including 5-1 in the NE10.

Vo, the 2016 NE10 Rookie of the Year, is a five-time All-NE10 performer at Stonehill, having collected the accolades for both singles and doubles two-straight years. She earned second team honors at both No. 2 singles and doubles, along with freshman Samantha Ormesher, this fall with a 22-8 combined singles and doubles record. Vo is 12-2 in singles play, including a 9-0 mark in the NE10 to run her career record in NE10 regular season singles matches to 32-0 for her career. She and Ormesher have teamed up for a 6-1 record, including 6-0 in the NE10. Vo has posted a combined overall record of 82-35, including a 45-11 singles mark, which includes her 32-0 NE10 singles record.


Porter is a second team All-NE10 performer at No. 1 singles and doubles.

Ormesher and freshman Emma Markaryan have both made an immediate impact in the Stonehill lineup in their first collegiate seasons. Ormesher earned All-NE10 first team honors at No. 3 singles, and is a combined 20-8 in singles and doubles play, including identical 10-4 records in her singles and doubles matches. Markaryan earned All-NE10 first team honors at No. 5 singles, posting an 11-1 singles record, winning all ten of her NE10 matches.

Nunez headlines six All-NE10 performers for Le Moyne, having earned first team honors at No. 3 singles and third team honors at No. 2 doubles, along with St. Antoine. She has posted a 22-10 combined record in singles and doubles play this fall, including 11-4 in her singles matches (9-2 NE10), while posting an 11-6 clip with St. Antoine (8-3 NE10).

Sophomore Camila Humala also earned All-NE10 honors for both singles and doubles for Le Moyne, posting second team honors at No. 3 doubles, with freshman Brooke Fernandez, along with third team accolades at No. 6 singles. Humala owns an 11-4 combined record in singles and doubles play, with an 11-4 singles mark (6-2 NE10), winning all nine of her matches paired with Fernandez in doubles, including six in the NE10. Freshman Belen Wibner rounds out the Dolphins All-NE10 performers with third team honors at No. 5 singles. She is 13-4 in her singles matches, overall, including 8-3 in the NE10, for Le Moyne. Freshman Birdem Oz has also been a key contributor for the Dolphins, posting an 11-5 singles record overall, including 4-3 in the NE10.

Stonehill posted a 6-1 triumph over Le Moyne in the regular season encounter between the two at Watt Courts on September 23, with two singles matches going three sets. Downey, Vo and Ormesher led Stonehill as double-winners in the matchup. Vo and Ormesher teamed up for the first time for a 6-4 decision to clinch the doubles point for the Skyhawks at No. 2. Vo later added a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles against Oz, while Ormesher battled past St. Antoine for a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 triumph at No. 3 singles. Downey and Ray combined for a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles for Stonehill, and then Downey clinched the match win for the Skyhawks with her 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 6 singles against Humala, rallying from 2-4 down in the second set for the win.

Stonehill and Le Moyne are meeting in the NE10 Tournament for the third time in four seasons. The Skyhawks posted a 5-4 decision over the Dolphins in last year's NE10 semifinal, while recording a 5-1 triumph over the Dolphins in the first round of the 2015 Tournament, with both matches also played at Watt Courts.
