Four earn All-NE10 first team honors, two freshmen collect All-Rookie Team status

EASTON, Mass. (October 25, 2018) – Seven members of the Northeast-10 Conference regular season champion Stonehill College women's tennis program have collected All-Northeast-10 honors for their performances during the regular season, the league announced.

Junior Alexandra Vo, sophomores Isabelle Porter and Bethany Hammond and freshman Samantha Ormesher highlight Stonehill's All-NE10 performers by earning the accolades for both singles and doubles. Senior Nicole Downey, junior Caroline Ray, Ormesher and fellow freshman Emma Markaryan all earned All-NE10 first team honors for the Skyhawks, while Ormesher and Markaryan were also named to the NE10's All-Rookie Team.

Vo earns All-NE10 honors for both singles and doubles for the second-straight year, having collected the fourth and fifth All-Conference awards of her career with her spots on the All-NE10 second team at both No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles, along with Ormesher. Vo has posted a combined 22-8 record in singles and doubles play this fall, including a 16-4 combined record in the NE10. She is 12-2 overall for singles, including a perfect 9-0 mark in the NE10 to improve to 32-0 over her career in NE10 singles matches. Vo and Ormesher combined for a 6-1 doubles record, winning all six of their NE10 matches paired together.

Vo, who earned NE10 Player of the Week honors on September 26, reached the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA Division II East Regional doubles championship, along with junior Annelise Howick, and the singles round of 16 at the ITA East Regional last month.

Ormesher, who earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors on October 3, has also earned All-NE10 first team honors at No. 3 singles to go with her second team award at No. 2 doubles. She has posted a combined 20-8 record overall in singles and doubles play, with identical 10-4 overall records for both. She is 9-2 in NE10 singles play, including 7-1 at No. 3 singles, while posting a 9-2 mark in NE10 doubles matches, including 7-3 at No. 2. Ormesher, who also earned NE10 All-Rookie Team honors, reached the second round in both singles and doubles at the ITA East Regional.

Porter earns All-NE10 honors for both singles and doubles for the first time, with second team honors at No. 1 singles and doubles, along with Hammond. The three-time All-NE10 performer after earning first team honors at No. 3 singles as a freshman, is ranked No. 15 in the Oracle/ITA East Region singles rankings. She is a combined 21-9 in singles and doubles play this fall, including a combined 16-5 in the NE10. Porter has posted an 11-4 singles record, including 8-2 in the NE10, with a 7-3 mark at the top flight. She is a combined 10-5 in doubles play, including 8-3 in the NE10, posting a 9-3 record while paired with Hammond, including 7-1 in the NE10. Porter also earned NE10 Player of the Week honors once this season, on October 3, and is the first Stonehill singles player to reach the quarterfinals at the ITA East Regional.

Hammond earns All-NE10 honors for both singles and doubles for the first time, with second team honors at No. 1 doubles, with Porter, and third team honors at No. 4 singles. The three-time All-NE10 performer after earning second team honors at No. 3 doubles as a freshman, is a combined 17-6 in singles and doubles play this season, including a combined 12-2 in the NE10. She has posted an 8-3 record in singles play, including 5-1 in the NE10, to go with her 9-3 doubles record with Porter, including 7-1 in the NE10.

Downey and Ray earn All-NE10 first team honors at No. 3 doubles after teaming up to post a 7-1 record this fall, winning all seven of their NE10 matches. It marks the first All-NE10 award for Ray, while Downey earns All-NE10 honors for the third time, with her first doubles award. Downey earned All-NE10 third team honors at No. 5 singles as a freshman, when she also earned a spot on the NE10 All-Rookie Team, and third team accolades at No. 4 singles during her junior year.

Markaryan joins Ormesher, as well as Ray and Downey on the All-NE10 first team at No. 5 singles, while earning All-Rookie Team status along with Ormesher. Markaryan, named the NE10 Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, has posted a combined 12-2 record in singles and doubles play this fall, including an 11-0 combined NE10 mark. She is 11-1 in singles play, winning all ten of her NE10 matches, with a 6-0 record at No. 5.

Stonehill (11-1, 11-0 NE10), ranked No. 42 in the Oracle/ITA Division II national rankings, captured its third-straight NE10 regular season championship and is the top seed for the NE10 Tournament after running through the NE10 regular season with an undefeated record for the second-straight year and sixth time in program history overall. The nine-time NE10 regular season champions host No. 4-seeded Le Moyne College for an NE10 semifinal at Charles Watt Tennis Courts on Friday at 1 p.m.
