#42 Women's Tennis Rolls Past Bentley, 7-0

Skyhawks remain unbeaten after 3-0 week

EASTON, Mass. (September 30, 2018) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 42 in the most recent Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II rankings, polished off a 3-0 week with a 7-0 victory over rival Bentley University in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Senior Nicole Downey, junior Alexandra Vo, sophomores Isabelle Porter and Bethany Hammond, as well as freshman Samantha Ormesher were all double-winners in leading Stonehill to its 19th-straight NE10 regular season win. Porter and Hammond combined to clinch the doubles point for the Skyhawks with their 6-0 win at No. 1 after Downey and junior Caroline Ray claimed a 6-0 win at No. 3.

Porter followed that up with a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 1 singles against Bentley senior Hannah Fabianski. Hammond registered a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of junior Morgan Kreiss at No. 4 singles. Downey added a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles against freshman Cindy Luo. Freshman Emma Markaryan clinched the match-deciding point for Stonehill with her 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles against freshman Courtney Flynn.

Vo and Ormesher closed out doubles play with their 6-1 win at No. 2. Vo went on to improve to 28-0 over her career in NE10 singles play with her 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles, while Ormesher took her singles point by injury withdrawal.     

Stonehill (6-0, 6-0 NE10) returns to action on Tuesday, when it visits Southern New Hampshire University, ranked tenth in the East Region, for an NE10 match at 3 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Wednesday, October 10, to host Merrimack College on Senior Day at Watt Courts at 3 p.m. Bentley (1-6, 0-6 NE10) visits Assumption College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
