Vo Earns NE10 Player of the Week Honors

EASTON, Mass. (September 26, 2018) – Stonehill College junior Alexandra Vo has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week in women's tennis by the league office today.

Vo earns NE10 Player of the Week honors for the second time in her career after posting a combined 3-1 record in singles and doubles play in a 2-0 week for Stonehill, ranked No. 42 in the most recent Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II national rankings. She won both of her singles matches in the Skyhawks wins over the University of New Haven and regionally-ranked Le Moyne College, stepping up to No. 1 singles in Wednesday's 6-1 win at New Haven to record a come from behind 3-6, 6-4, 11-9 triumph over Laura Fermosel. Vo was a double-winner in Sunday's 6-1 victory over Le Moyne, ranked No. 9 in the Oracle/ITA East Region rankings, rolling to a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles against Birdem Oz after teaming up with freshman Samantha Ormesher for a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the doubles point for the Skyhawks.

Vo is a combined 11-3 in singles and doubles play this fall, having reached the singles Round of 16 from the qualification bracket at the USTA/ITA Division II East Regional earlier this month, while she and junior Annelise Howick made the doubles quarterfinals. Vo and Howick are ranked No. 9 in the Oracle/ITA East Region doubles rankings, having posted a 4-2 record this fall, including 1-1 in the NE10. Vo owns a 6-1 singles record, including 3-0 in the NE10.

Vo is a three-time All-NE10 performer over her career at Stonehill, earning NE10 Rookie of the Year accolades as a freshman in 2016. She has posted a combined 71-32 record in singles and doubles play over her career, including a 33-9 singles record, having won all 23 of her NE10 singles matches to date. Vo has played to a 27-18 doubles record in her career, including 19-5 in the NE10. She has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for her efforts in the classroom, and is a two-time All-NE10 first team performer at No. 2 singles, having also earned the honors at No. 2 doubles, with Howick, as a sophomore.

Stonehill (3-0, 3-0 NE10) is back in action on Wednesday when it opens a four match week by hosting Franklin Pierce University for an NE10 dual match at 3 p.m. The Skyhawks host Division I College of the Holy Cross on Friday at 6 p.m., visit Saint Anselm College on Saturday at 1 p.m., and then host rival Bentley University for their Purple & White match on Sunday at noon.
