Women's Tennis Earns 12th NCAA Tournament Bid

EASTON, Mass. (April 24, 2018) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 42 in the most recent Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II national rankings, has earned an at large bid to the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships as a No. 6 seed in the East Region the NCAA selection committee announced tonight.

Stonehill (14-4, 12-0 NE10), the Northeast-10 Conference regular season champions, earns its 12th NCAA Tournament bid and is seeded sixth in the East Region. The Skyhawks make their fourth straight appearance under head coach Marc Maloney (56-29/.659) in as many years, and ninth in the last ten seasons overall. The Skyhawks will face No. 3-seeded and No. 48-ranked New York Institute of Technology (10-6, 4-3 ECC), the East Coast Conference Tournament Champions to earn an automatic bid, in a first round matchup on Saturday on the campus of No. 46 Queens (N.Y.) College (10-4, 7-0 ECC), the ECC regular season champions, in Flushing, New York, at noon. The winner will advance to face host Queens, the No. 2 seed, on Sunday at noon.

Top-seeded and No. 41-ranked Goldey-Beacom College (16-2, 8-0 CACC), the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference regular season and tournament champions, will host the other East Regional bracket on Saturday and Sunday. The Lightning await the winner of Saturday's first round match between fifth-seeded and No. 44 Adelphi University (14-1, 11-1 NE10), the NE10 Tournament Champions, and fourth-seeded Concordia (N.Y.) College (16-4, 7-1 CACC).

The winners of the two East Regional brackets will advance to the NCAA Championships in Surprise, Arizona, May 8-11.
