Barbetta, Vo, Porter and Hammond double-winners as Skyhawks stay unbeaten

EASTON, Mass. (September 17, 2017) – Stonehill College, ranked No. 6 in the latest Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, showed no letdown after Saturday's big win as it coasted to a 9-0 triumph at Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action today.

Senior Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep (Fla.)), sophomore Alexandra Vo (Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania/Nazareth Academy) and freshmen Isabelle Porter (Jupiter, Florida/William T. Dwyer) and Bethany Hammond (Belgrade, Maine/St. Dominic's) all claimed singles and doubles wins for Stonehill this afternoon. Barbetta and Porter led a sweep of the three doubles matches with their 8-3 victory at No. 1. Barbetta followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Saint Michael's sophomore Abby Ramsay (Bedford, New Hampshire/Bedford) at No. 1 singles, while Porter collected a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 3 singles against freshman Melissa Wood (Stratham, New Hampshire/Exeter).

Vo and sophomore Annelise Howick (Jacksonville, Florida/Creekside) picked up an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, and then Vo cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles against junior Margaret de Pont (Norton, Massachusetts/Bishop Feehan). Hammond and senior Colleen O'Donnell (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) contributed an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles, and then Hammond picked up her first collegiate singles win without dropping a game in straight sets at No. 5.

Senior Emma Prinos (Foxborough, Massachusetts/Foxborough) and junior Nicole Downey (Groveland, Massachusetts/Pentucket Regional) both chipped in with singles wins for Stonehill as well.

Stonehill (4-0, 2-0 NE10) is back on the courts on Tuesday when it hosts the University of New Haven at 3 p.m. Saint Michael's (2-3, 1-2 NE10) hosts American International College on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
