EASTON, Mass. (April 11, 2017) – Stonehill College freshman Annelise Howick (Jacksonville, Florida/Creekside) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week in women's tennis the league announced today.

Howick was a double-winner for Stonehill in its 6-3 setback at Goldey-Beacom College, ranked No. 3 in both the NCAA Division II and Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Region rankings. She teamed up with freshman Alexandra Vo (Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania/Nazareth Academy) for the Skyhawks doubles point with their 9-7 decision at No. 2. Howick followed that up by rallying from a set down to record a 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 triumph at No. 5 singles against freshman Silvia Hortelano Pey to earn one of the Skyhawks two singles points for the match.

Howick has appeared in just ten of Stonehill's 19 dual matches during her freshman season, but all four during the spring season to date. She is a combined 8-9 in singles and doubles play, posting a 5-5 doubles mark with three different playing partners, to go with a 3-4 singles record, including 2-0 in NE10 matches. Howick was named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for her efforts in the classroom during her first college semester last fall.

Stonehill (13-6, 11-1 NE10), ranked No. 5 in the first NCAA Division II East Regional ranking of the year released last week, closes out its preparation for a potential NCAA Tournament bid next Wednesday, April 19, at Division I College of the Holy Cross at 4 p.m. The 2017 NCAA Division II Tournament field will be announced later this month after the Skyhawks captured the NE10 Regular Season Championship last fall.
