NE-10 Women's Tennis Weekly Report

EASTON, Mass. (September 27, 2016) – Stonehill College freshman Alexandra Vo (Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania/Nazareth Academy) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week for women's tennis, the league office announced today.

Vo led Stonehill to three NE-10 wins last week by posting a combined 6-0 record in singles and doubles play over the three matches. She won two matches at No. 2 singles, and a straight sets win at No. 1 singles in Sunday's victory at American International College. Vo also won all three of her doubles matches with two different partners, including a pair of victories at No. 1 doubles with junior captain Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep).

Vo led Stonehill to a key 5-4 decision at Southern New Hampshire University, ranked seventh in the region, on Saturday with wins at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles. She and Barbetta claimed the Skyhawks lone doubles win with their 8-6 victory against the Penmen. Vo followed that up with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Sofia Morais in singles play. She was also a double-winner in Thursday's 9-0 win against Franklin Pierce University dropping just a single game over three sets of play at No. 2 doubles and No. 2 singles. Vo capped the week with two more wins at No. 1 singles and doubles in Sunday's 9-0 win at AIC.

Vo, who also collected NE-10 Rookie of the Week accolades on September 13, has won all seven of her singles matches early in her first collegiate season, all in NE-10 play, with a 6-0 record at No. 2 singles to go with her win at AIC at No. 1. She has also posted a 5-3 doubles record with four different playing partners, including a 5-2 mark in NE-10 matches.

Stonehill (7-1, 7-0 NE-10), ranked No. 6 in the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional rankings, is back in action on Thursday when it looks to win its eight straight match with a Northeast-10 dual match at Saint Anselm College at 3 p.m. The Skyhawks next home match is Saturday, October 15, when it hosts The College of Saint Rose for an NE-10 match on Senior Day at noon.
