Dodd and Logue double-winners for Fire at bottom of lineup

LAKELAND, Fla. (March 12, 2016) – Southeastern University overcame a 2-1 deficit following doubles play to edge Stonehill College 5-4 in non-conference women's tennis action at Edgewood Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Sophomore Melanie Dodd (Inverness, Florida/Citrus) and freshman Morgan Logue (Lakeland, Florida/Teneroc) paced Southeastern to the victory as double-winners at the bottom of the ladder. The duo combined for the Fire's lone doubles victory with an 8-3 decision at No. 3. Dodd added a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 5 singles against Stonehill freshman Courtenay Cavett (Plano, Texas/Ursuline Academy of Texas), while Logue rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 6 singles against sophomore Janet Haas (Northbridge, Massachusetts/Northbridge) to clinch the win.

Senior Alexis Quinn (Newport News, Virginia/Durant (Fla.)) picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles for Southeastern, while junior Madeline Wills (Mechanicsville, Virginia/Atlee) notched a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 4 for the Fire.

Sophomore Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep) was a double-winner for Stonehill. She combined with senior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles before rolling to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles against Southeastern junior Emily Acierno (Flagler Beach, Florida). Seniors Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian) and Kirsti Toegemann (Narragansett, Rhode Island/The Lincoln School) teamed up for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles against Acierno and Quinn. Sophomore Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Foxboro) also earned a point for the Skyhawks with her back and forth 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 triumph at No. 3 singles against junior Kelsi Black (Monroe, Michigan).

Stonehill (13-7, 10-2 NE-10) is back in action on April 1-2 when it takes part in the Nor'Easter Bowl, hosted by Wellesley College, taking on Rensselear on Friday, April 1, at 4 p.m. The Skyhawks next home match is scheduled for Sunday, April 3, when it hosts College of the Holy Cross at noon. Southeastern (6-4, 3-1 SUN) hosts Missouri Baptist University on Monday at 8 a.m.
