Etten and Davis lead Tars to third straight win

WINTER Park, Fla. (March 8, 2016) – Rollins College, ranked 27th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II rankings, posted a 9-0 victory over Stonehill College, ranked sixth in the ITA's East Region rankings, in non-conference women's tennis action at Tiedtke Tennis Complex today.

Senior Carli Davis (Auckland, New Zealand) and junior Shannon Etten (Naples, Florida/Barrion Collier) led Rollins to its third straight win as double-winners at the upper flights. The duo combined for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles and then Etten added a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles against Stonehill senior Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian). Davis posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles against senior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) for the Tars.

Stonehill sophomore Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep) battled Rollins freshman Teresa Kaiser (Omaha, Nebraska/Skutt Catholic) deep into a third set tiebreaker before falling 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 at No. 3 singles. Classmate Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Foxboro) also forced a tiebreaker in the second set against junior Johanna Olsson (Stockholm, Sweden) before being edged 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 4 singles. Olsson and Kaiser were also double-winners for the Tars, teaming up for an 8-4 decision at No. 2 doubles against Kump and Barbetta.

Stonehill (13-5, 10-2 NE-10) is right back on the courts on Thursday when it faces Wayne State University of Michigan at 11:30 a.m. The Skyhawks next home match is scheduled for Sunday, April 3, when it hosts College of the Holy Cross at noon. Rollins (3-2, 0-0 SSC) visits Embry-Riddle University tomorrow at 3:30 p.m.
