Women's Tennis Coasts at Franklin Pierce, 9-0

Paradiso and Downey lead Skyhawks with singles and doubles wins 

RINDGE, N.H. (September 23, 2015) – Stonehill College, ranked sixth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, cruised to a 9-0 victory at Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action today.

Senior Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian) and freshman Nicole Downey (Groveland, Massachusetts/Pentucket Regional) both won their singles and doubles matches to lead the way for Stonehill, which dropped just 12 games across the nine matches on its way to victory. Paradiso and sophomore Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Foxboro) combined for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles and then Paradiso followed that up with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Franklin Pierce sophomore Sonia Rodrigues (Swansea, Massachusetts/Joseph Case) at No. 1 singles.

Downey and senior Kirsti Toegemann (Narragansett, Rhode Island/The Lincoln School) breezed to an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles before Downey improved her singles record to 10-0 in her first collegiate season with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 against senior Nicole Gilooly (East Sandwich, Massachusetts/Sandwich). Junior Amanda DePasquale (Londonderry, New Hampshire/Londonderry) and sophomore Melissa Parker (Madison, Connecticut/Daniel Hand) completed the Skyhawks sweep of the three doubles matches with their 8-0 win at No. 3.

Senior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), sophomore Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep), senior Caitlin McKinney (Braintree, Massachusetts/Braintree) and sophomore Janet Haas (Northbridge, Massachusetts/Northbridge) each added singles points for Stonehill this afternoon.

Stonehill (5-2, 3-1 NE-10) returns to action on Friday when it hosts Adelphi University for its Purple & White match and a key NE-10 matchup at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 3 p.m. Franklin Pierce (0-6, 0-5 NE-10) visits Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
