#3 Saint Leo Defeats Stonehill, 9-0

NE-10 Champion Skyhawks open spring schedule with tough competition 

SAINT LEO, Fla. (March 8, 2015) – Saint Leo University, ranked No. 3 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II national poll, posted a 9-0 victory over Northeast-10 Conference Champions Stonehill College, ranked sixth in the ITA East Regional rankings, in non-conference women's tennis action at the Saint Leo Tennis Complex this afternoon.

Sophomore Isabella Robbiani (Asuncion, Paraguay) led four double-winners for Saint Leo on Sunday. She and classmate Gabrielle Paul (Maidstone, England) combined for an 8-3 win over Stonehill freshmen Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep) and Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Foxboro) at No. 1 doubles. Robbiani followed that up with a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles against Barbetta, while Paul claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 against freshman Colleen O'Donnell (Waterville, Maine/Waterville).

Stonehill (13-3, 10-2 NE-10) is back in action on Tuesday when it faces Aquinas College of Michigan as part of its annual spring break trip here in Central Florida at 5 p.m. The Skyhawks have already earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Championships in May as a result of their NE-10 Championship won last fall. Saint Leo (7-2, 2-1 SSC) hosts Georgia Gwinnett on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
