Skyhawks win streak reaches five matches to open season 

EASTON, Mass. (September 21, 2014) – Stonehill College, ranked ninth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, rolled to its third straight shutout win with a 9-0 victory over Saint Michael's College in a key Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis match that started at Charles Watt Tennis Courts and was moved indoors to the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex when rains commences during doubles play.

Junior Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian) again led six double-winners for Stonehill with her victories at No. 1 singles and doubles. She and freshman Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep) combined for a comfortable 8-2 win as the Skyhawks opened with a clean sweep of the three doubles matches. Paradiso followed with a 6-2, 7-5 singles decision over junior Erica Bundrick (Mattituck, New York/Mattituck). Barbetta added a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles against Saint Michael's senior Hannah Benoit (Mystic, Connecticut/Saint Bernard School).

Junior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and freshman Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Foxboro) teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Kump added a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles against sophomore Nicole Kellogg (Burnt Hills, New York/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), while Prinos battled past senior Caroline Martin (Scituate, Massachusetts/Scituate) at No. 4, 7-5, 6-1.

Senior Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, Rhode Island/Mount Saint Charles Academy) and freshman Colleen O'Donnell (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) rounded out the double-winners for Stonehill, starting with their 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles. Lawrence followed that up with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles against junior Alexandra Sulkin (Ipswich, Massachusetts/Ipswich), while O'Donnell added an 8-6 pro-set win at No. 6 singles against senior Caroline Toutoungi (Weston, Connecticut/Weston).

Stonehill (5-0, 5-0 NE-10) returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Bentley University for an NE-10 match at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at 3 p.m. Saint Michael's (3-2, 3-2 NE-10) hosts Saint Anselm College on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
