Skyhawks improve to 4-0 behind five double-winners 

WOODBRIDGE, Conn. (September 20, 2014) – Stonehill College, ranked ninth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, remained unbeaten on the season with a 9-0 triumph over the University of New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action at Amity Regional High School this afternoon.

Junior Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Michigan/Marian) led the double-winners for Stonehill on the day with wins at No. 1 singles and doubles. She teamed up with freshman Victoria Barbetta (Wesley Chapel, Florida/Saddlebrook Prep) for an 8-2 win as the Skyhawks swept the three doubles matches. Paradiso added a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles against junior Alexandra Sharshakov (Reiterstown, Maryland/Garrison Forrest), while Barbetta posted a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles against senior Lindsey Conley (Glastonbury, Connecticut/Glastonbury).

Junior Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), senior Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, Rhode Island/Mount Saint Charles Academy) and freshman Emma Prinos (Foxboro, Massachusetts/Foxboro) rounded out the doubles winners for Stonehill. Kump and Prinos rolled to an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles before Kump registered a 6-3, 6-2 decision over junior Samantha Nigri (Carmel, New York/Carmel) at No. 2 singles. Prinos breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles against freshman Alexia Petruzziello (North Haven, Connecticut/North Haven).

Lawrence and freshman Colleen O'Donnell (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) combined for an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles before Lawrence coasted to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles against sophomore Sarah Burzin (Ivoryton, Connecticut/Valley Regional). Freshman Corrie MacLean (Trumbull, Connecticut/Trumbull) rounded out the Skyhawks points with her 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles against senior Christina Santos (Wolcott, Connecticut/Wolcott).

Stonehill (4-0, 4-0 NE-10) is right back in action tomorrow when it hosts Saint Michael's College for a Northeast-10 dual match at Charles Watt Tennis Courts at noon. New Haven (1-3, 1-3 NE-10) travels to American International College tomorrow.
