Sophomore Analise Kump recorded wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles at American International today.

Kump, Smith and Schneider keep Skyhawks unbeaten in NE-10 play

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 29, 2014) – Stonehill College, ranked ninth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, maintained its perfect league mark with a 6-3 victory over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action this afternoon.

Sophomore Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth), freshman Lorraine Smith (Littleton, Colo./D'Evelyn) and junior Olivia Schneider (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) were all double-winners for Stonehill as all nine matches were played with pro-set scoring after the match was delayed by wet court conditions and then needed to beat the incoming weather forecast for more rain. Kump and Smith breezed to an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles as the Skyhawks took two of three in doubles play on the afternoon. Kump added an 8-1 decision at No. 3 singles against Isabella Dandt, while Smith blanked Romane Willmotte 8-0 at No. 5.

Schneider teamed up with junior Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) for an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Schneider added another 8-0 triumph at No. 6 singles against Jasmine Byrd. Senior Kaitlyn Martin (Mattapoisett, Mass./Medway) swept Eleanna Fulop 8-0 at No. 4 singles to earn a point for the Skyhawks.

Marine Cartier and Ana Paula Simoes were both double-winners for American International, teaming up for an 8-1 win over Martin and sophomore Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Mich./Marian) at No. 1 doubles. Cartier added an 8-1 win over Paradiso at No. 1 singles, while Simoes claimed an 8-4 decision against Lawrence at No. 2.

Stonehill (14-2, 8-0 NE-10) is back in action tomorrow when it hosts Queens (N.Y.) College, ranked second in the East Region, for a key regional clash at Noon. (NOTE TIME CHANGE) American International College (1-2, 1-2 NE-10) is scheduled to visit Franklin Pierce University tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.
