Skyhawks doubles tandem wins Flight A doubles bracket 

NORTON, Mass. (March 23, 2014) – Senior Kaitlyn Martin (Mattapoisett, Mass./Medway) and sophomore Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Mich./Marian) led the way for the Stonehill College women's tennis program, ranked ninth in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, at the Wheaton College Invitational today.

Martin and Paradiso combined to win the Flight A doubles bracket with their 8-0 sweep of Jessica Moore and Izzy Gorham from host Wheaton College. Stonehill's tandem opened with an 8-2 win over Wheaton's Caroline DiNicola and Michelle Trainor.

Stonehill also placed two doubles teams in the Flight B bracket championship. Juniors Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) and Olivia Schneider (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) posted an 8-1 semifinal win over Emma Limburg and Adriana Maconochie of Roger Williams University, while sophomore Caitlin McKinney (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) and freshman Amanda DePasquale (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) posted an 8-5 decision over Caroline Stanclift and Stassy Furber from Wheaton. The two Stonehill doubles teams did not play their head-to-head finals match as McKinney and DePasquale were also competing in the singles brackets.

DePasquale reached the Flight C singles final before falling to Wheaton's Sarah Crom, 6-4, 6-4. DePasquale advanced with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Caroline McCarthy from Roger Williams. McKinney also competed in the Flight C bracket and posted an 8-1 decision over McCarthy in the consolation match after falling to Crom, 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinals.

Sophomore Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) won her consolation match in the Flight A singles bracket with an 8-3 decision over Samantha Curran from Roger Williams after being defeated 6-1, 6-4 by Wheaton's Lyndsay Cooke. Freshman Lorraine Smith (Littleton, Colo./D'Evelyn) also won her consolation match in the Flight B singles bracket with an 8-2 victory over Harley Kaiserman from Roger Williams. Smith was edged by Wheaton's Morgan Bell, 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 in the semifinals.

Stonehill (12-2, 6-0 NE-10) returns to dual match play on Tuesday when it hosts Bentley University for a key Northeast-10 Conference matchup at 3 p.m.
