Paradiso leads five double-winners for Skyhawks with wins at No. 1 singles and doubles

EASTON, Mass. (October 10, 2013) – Stonehill College, ranked fifth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, picked up its third straight win with a 9-0 victory over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference women's tennis action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Sophomore Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Mich./Marian) once again led the way for Stonehill as one of five double-winners on the afternoon. She teamed up with sophomore Kirsti Toegemann (Narragansett, R.I./The Lincoln School) for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles and then claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles over Le Moyne senior Kristine Kenny (Baytown, Texas/Ross S. Sterling-Baytown).

Junior Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) and sophomore Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) combined for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles and then both posted straight sets singles wins without dropping a single game. Lawrence blanked junior Jessica Geary (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, while Kump won by the same score at No. 3 singles against sophomore Allison Jones (Utica, N.Y./Notre Dame).

Senior captain Kaitlyn Martin (Mattapoisett, Mass./Medway) and freshman Lorraine Smith (Littleton, Colo./D'Evelyn) rounded out the double-winners for Stonehill. After the duo teamed up for an 8-0 shutout at No. 3 doubles, they claimed mirroring singles results. Martin notched a 6-0, 6-2 decision over junior Margaret LaFleur (Darien Center, N.Y./Attica) at No. 4 singles, while Smith defeated sophomore Kennedy Langlois (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5. Sophomore Caitlin McKinney (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) also picked up a point for the Skyhawks by cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 win over freshman Kelsey Thibault (Central Square, N.Y./Paul V. Moore) at No. 6 singles.

Stonehill (6-1, 4-0 NE-10) returns to the courts on Saturday when it closes out its fall schedule by hosting Saint Anselm College for a Northeast-10 match at Watt Courts at 10 a.m. Le Moyne (0-9, 0-6 NE-10) visits Bentley University Saturday at 1 p.m.
