Skyhawks drop just four games in 15 sets of tennis for non-conference win 

EASTON, Mass. (September 26, 2013) – Stonehill College, ranked fifth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings, cruised to a 9-0 victory over Post University in its first home match of the season in non-conference women's tennis action at Charles Watt Tennis Courts this afternoon.

Junior Meryl Lawrence (North Scituate, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) and sophomores Bailey Paradiso (Birmingham, Mich./Marian) and Analise Kump (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) led a list of six double-winners for Stonehill. Paradiso, the 12th-ranked singles player in the East Region by the ITA rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Post freshman Hannah Glowacki (Tiverton, R.I./Tiverton). She also teamed up with freshman Amanda DePasquale (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) for an 8-0 sweep at No. 2 doubles. DePasquale competed in the first singles match of his collegiate career and swept senior Leah Grabowski (Terryville, Conn./Naugatuck) at No. 5.

Lawrence and Kump combined for an 8-0 win at No. 1 singles and then Lawrence rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over freshman Jamie Wilkin (Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill), while Kump notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 against sophomore Julia Brazdzionis (Waterbury, Conn./Crosby).

Sophomore Caitlin McKinney (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) and freshman Lorraine Smith (Littleton, Colo./D'Evelyn) rounded out the double winners for Stonehill, starting with an 8-1 decision at No. 3 doubles. Smith added a 6-1, 6-0 win over sophomore Colleen Rush (Waterbury, Conn./Sacred Heart) at No. 4 singles, while McKinney claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 against junior Lauren Gelati (Thomaston, Conn./Waterbury Arts Magnet School).

Stonehill (3-0, 1-0 NE-10) is off until Tuesday when it visits College of the Holy Cross for a non-conference contest at 3 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Wednesday, October 9, for a Northeast-10 matchup with College of Saint Rose at Watt Courts at 3 p.m. Post (0-5, 0-3 CACC) travels to Chestnut Hill College tomorrow at 2 p.m.
