BOCA RATON, Florida (October 11, 2019) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team, who is ranked No. 19 in this week's United Soccer Coaches' National poll and No. 2 in the East Regional poll, got ahead early and stayed ahead as they won their first out of region game with a 3-1 victory over Lynn University at Bobby Campbell Stadium Friday night.

Stonehill (9-2-1, 6-1-1 NE10) saw three different goal scorers, including Nicole Geraghty, Camryn Thompson, and Emma Slade, while Hannah Guidi recorded the lone assist and Kaitlin Brown tallied five saves.

In the first 25 minutes of the game, both teams each tallied five shots each, as in the 26th minute of the game, Stonehill was called for a foul setting up a free kick for the Fighting Knights, but the Skyhawks were able to clear the ball and take it down field. Lynn was then called for their own foul in the 27th minute of the game, which set Geraghty up for a direct kick about 25 yards out as she was able to find the back of the net giving Stonehill a 1-0 lead at 26:12. Roughly 11 minutes later, Guidi played the ball from the middle of the field in their attacking third to Thompson who was just outside the 18-yard box. Thompson took a quick dribble to her right before finding the back right post for her seventh goal of the season and Guidi notched her second assist of the season.

Three minutes into the second half, Lynn got off an inswinger corner kick that was punched away by Brown, but Johanna Nilsson collected the clear and pushed it through the scrum to cut the deficit to one, 2-1, at 48:24. In the 75th minute, Stonehill's Slade recorded her fourth goal of the season for insurance. Following a short goal kick by the Fighting Knights, Slade headed the ball on the right side of the field in their attacking third and Lynn took the pass from her but Slade cut off a pass before launching the ball from about 25 yards away to find the left upper 90, extending their lead back to two, 3-1. Stonehill outshot the Fighting Knights 23-12 in the game, as the Skyhawks saw 12 fouls compared to the Fighting Knights' seven.

Stonehill will face Barry University (2-6-0) to wrap up their two-game Florida series on Monday, October 14 on Buccaneer Soccer Field.
