Women’s Soccer Rolls Over Dominican (N.Y.), 5-1

Skyhawks saw four different scorers in their first win of the season

Thompson notched her 10th goal of her career and first of the season

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, New York (September 8, 2019) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team earned their first victory of the season in dominating fashion with a 5-1 win against non-conference opponent Dominican (N.Y.) College on Sunday afternoon at the John A. Darcy Field in the Molloy College Kickoff Classic.

Stonehill's (1-1) senior Nicole Geraghty put in two goals during the victory, as freshman Emma Slade, sophomore Camryn Thompson, and sophomore Megan Giambanco saw their first goals of the season.

A long run in the third minute of the game by Alex Giardina set up Kayla Henry for the first shot on goal as she tried to sneak in the ball in the front right post but was stopped by the keeper. Dominican later broke open the game with a ball sent from the back from Abby Montera to Megan Geary who split defenders for a 1-0 advantage at 29:00.

About three minutes later, Henry crossed the ball to Geraghty at the top of the 18-yard box at 32:28 as the senior lifted the ball to the cross bar tying the score at one apiece, 1-1. This was Geraghty's 10th goal of her career and first of the season. Stonehill continued pressing the ball and saw Slade lollipop in her first-collegiate goal in the 44th minute of the game from about 25 yards out dropping it in over the goalkeepers head, 2-1.

Just over a minute later, Thompson put in a rebound from Geraghty's initial shot at 65:24 for her first of the season and 10th of her career, 4-1.

The Skyhawks saw a few more attempts in the final minutes of play, as Giambanco connected for her first goal of her career, as she picked up a loose ball from 20 yards out for a 5-1 advantage.

Stonehill ended the game outshooting Dominican 27-2.
