Henry tallies third-career game-winning goal

Thompson nets her ninth goal of the season

EASTON, Massachusetts (October 24, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team, ranked No. 6 in the NCAA Division II East Regional and United Soccer Coaches' East Regional rankings fought past Northeast-10 Conference rival Bentley University on Wednesday afternoon after falling behind for a 2-1 victory.

With the win, the Skyhawks have now won seven-straight matches, which is the longest win streak since 1999 when the team won 13-straight games at the start of the season and finished the season with a record of 17-4 overall and 8-1 in NE10 play.

Stonehill (13-4-0, 10-4-0 NE10) saw Camryn Thompson (Lincoln, Rhode Island/Lincoln) tally her ninth goal of the season as Kayla Henry (Belchertown, Massachusetts/Belchertown) scored her sixth tally of the season and third-career game of the season. Junior goalkeeper Kaitlin Brown (Walpole, Massachusetts/Walpole) registered seven saves.

Bentley wasted no time and saw Alyssa Valente put the first tally on the board at 3:17 with help from Dana Goulet. Valente recorded her fifth goal of the season volleying it into the net after a cross from the right win from Goulet for a 1-0 lead. The Falcons immediately took the ball back in their possession after the restart and saw two shots on goal and a corner kick as Brown held strong in net and registered her first two saves of the game.

Stonehill tried their shot on net in the 22^nd minute of the game as Henry struck the ball for Kat Hassapis' first save of the game. After a short kick by the Falcons, the Skyhawks won the first touch as Henry lifted the ball to find Thompson just outside the 18-yard box. Thompson volleyed the ball to herself as she controlled the ball and sent a low strike to the lower right corner at 22:48 for the equalizer, 1-1.

In the 75^th minute of the game, Bentley took a throw in from the left sideline, but the ball was quickly shifted to the hands of the Skyhawks and Thompson launched it to the middle of the field just outside the 18-yard box. Henry was there to touch it after the first bounce and take it to the left side of the diving goalkeeper to score the go-ahead goal in an open net at 75:14, 2-1. Both teams continued to challenge each other in the remaining minutes of the game as the Falcons saw four shots to the Skyhawks two, as Brown was able to stop the lone shot on goal for her 13^th win of the season.

Stonehill will host LIU Post, who is ranked No. 5 in the NCAA Division II East Regional and United Soccer Coaches' East Regional poll, on Saturday, October 27 for their final game of the regular season, before heading into the NE10 Tournament. Prior to the 11:00 a.m. kickoff, Stonehill will recognize its six seniors.
