MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (October 16, 2018) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team, ranked No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches' East Regional Poll, snapped Saint Anselm College's five-game win streak with a 1-0 Northeast-10 Conference victory Tuesday night at Grappone Stadium recording their seventh shutout of the season and fifth-straight victory.
Stonehill (11-4-0, 8-4-0 NE10) saw Nicole Geraghty (Bridgewater, Massachusetts/Bridgewater-Raynham) with her third goal of the season and Kayla Henry (Belchertown, Massachusetts/Belchertown) with her fifth assist of the season, while Kaitlin Brown (Walpole, Massachusetts/Walpole) registered eight saves in her ninth-career shutout.
In the early minutes of the game, the Skyhawks tallied the first two shots of the match, with Geraghty taking the first shot on goal at 4:08. After a foul on Stonehill was called, Saint Anselm launched the ball into the box and connected on a shot of their own at 4:31.The Hawks' Corey Murray headed the ball as it went straight into the hands of the Brown for the first save for the Skyhawks. Stonehill tried again taking the ball to their attacking third, but they were called for being offside at 4:45.

After a shot by the Hawks, at 5:44, the Skyhawks quickly recovered and went from end to end as Henry skipped the ball to Geraghty who was in the center channel putting the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 advantage at 6:04. Saint Anselm was called for a foul in the 19th minute of the game, and Emily Rosano (Cohasset, Massachusetts/Cohasset) lifted the ball up and into the box just outside the left side of the 18-yard box for Geraghty who headed the ball this time into the hands of Payton Wildrick at 18:54. Stonehill was called for its own foul on the left side of its 18-yard box that mimicked the same play as the Skyhawks, as Bailey Conti headed the ball just wide right past the post keeping the advantage in Stonehill's hands.
Saint Anselm opened the second half with two-straight shots and continued taking the ball down to their attacking third to get a chance on net, but Stonehill's defense halted the Hawks even with their 10 shots, two on goal compared to the Skyhawks' 4 shots and three on goal.
During the month of October, the women's soccer team will be wearing pink to honor anyone who is affected by breast cancer supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Skyhawks will be selling pink bracelets and t-shirts during their Play4TheCure contest on Saturday, October 20th at 11:00 a.m. on Skyhawk Field against Saint Michael's College.
