Diverse: Issues in Higher Education - April 2018 Issue
EASTON, Mass. (April 10, 2018) – The Stonehill College women' soccer senior forward Meredith Moore (Salem, Connecticut/East Lyme) was named to the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars fourth team as published in the April edition of Diverse: Issues In Higher Education magazine.
Diverse: Issues In Higher Education sponsors the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Awards to honor undergraduate students who have excelled in the classroom as well as on the athletic field. Inspired by tennis legend Arthur Ashe Jr.'s commitment to education as well as his love for the game of tennis, U.S. colleges and universities are invited to participate in this annual awards program by nominating their outstanding sports scholars. In addition to their athletic ability and academic performance, Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars demonstrate a commitment to community service and student leadership.

Moore, who has earned a 3.27 cumulative grade-point average and as a Biology major, was the only student-athlete from the Northeast-10 Conference to be named on the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar soccer teams. She has volunteered her time through the Hope Trip to Kentucky, different Special Olympics events, the Trinity Catholic Academy Gala, and at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in the emergency room in New London, Connecticut.
Over her four years as a student-athlete at Stonehill, she has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll six times and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll two times.
The Salem, Connecticut native wrapped up her senior season with six total points, including two goals and two assists. Over her four years as a Skyhawk, she combined for 12 goals and five assists for 29 points. She also totaled five game-winning goals. She saw action in 66 total games, starting in 29 of them, while being named co-captain her senior season. Moore went 2-for-2 in penalty kicks, scoring one in each of her junior and senior years.
Moore was a 2014 graduate of East Lyme School in East Lyme, Connecticut, where she was a four-year letterwinner in soccer and track.
Stonehill wrapped up the 2017 season with a 7-11 overall mark and a 5-9 NE10 record.
