Skyhawks tallied seven shots in the game
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (September 23, 2017) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team was tripped up by Pace University on Saturday afternoon at Pace Stadium in Northeast-10 Conference play.
Stonehill's (3-5-0, 1-3-0 NE10) goalkeeper Kaitlin Brown (Walpole, Massachusetts/Walpole) tallied two saves in the loss.
Pace's (4-4-0, 3-2-0 NE10) Emma Sinanan recorded one goal for the Setters, as the Skyhawks recorded an own goal in the 41st minute.
The Setters came into the first half with an edge as they tallied the first shot of the game in the ninth minute, which went wide by Sinanan. Pace regained possession and registered the first corner kick of the game by Drew Ribadeneyra, which found Sinanan's feet who put the ball in the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Stonehill connected on three strikes in the first half, but all three were stopped by the Setter's goalkeeper. In the 41st minute, Stonehill's defense headed the ball to stop Pace from scoring, but was misplayed by the Skyhawks resulting in an own goal, putting the Setters up 2-0.
Late in the second half, Stonehill and Pace had two opportunities each as the two teams traded shots, resulting in two shots saved for the Setters and one shot stopped by the Skyhawks. The remaining minutes of the game included only two shots by Pace, giving them the overall shot advantage, 10-7.
Stonehill is back in action on Wednesday, September 27 as they host Franklin Pierce University on Skyhawk Field with a 4:00 p.m. start time.
