Block Named NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Year, Headlines Six All-Conference Selections for Women’s Soccer

Four seniors, one sophomore and one freshman Skyhawk highlight All-Conference teams

EASTON, Mass. (November 4, 2016) – Stonehill College senior Jamie Block (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) leads a list of six All-Northeast Conference selections for Skyhawks by being named the Goalkeeper of the Year for women's soccer as voted on by the league's 15 head coaches.

Block also headlines six all-conference All-Northeast-10 selections, as one of two voted to the first team. Brianna Duserick (Canton, Mass./Canton) was the other Skyhawk to garner first-team honors, as Claire O'Brien (West Hartford, Conn./Hall) and Lauren Kapatoes (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) were placed on the second team. Sophomore Courtney Campo (Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) was tabbed to the third team, while freshman Nicole Geraghty (Bridgewater, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham Regional) was named to the All-Rookie team.

Block earns a spot on the All-Northeast-10 team for the second year, and first on the first team, as she was named to the second team last year. The senior was named the NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Week twice this season, while also being named to the Catholic Cup All-Tournament team posting a 3-1 win over Assumption and a 1-0 victory over Saint Anselm in the championship.

The Georgetown, Mass. Native has started all 54 games since her sophomore year. She is second in the conference in save percentage (.844) and goals against average (0.78). Block's nine shutouts this season rank third on the program's all-time single-season list, while also climbing to third, as well, in career shutouts with 19. Block is fourth in Stonehill soccer history in fewest goals allowed in a season (15). Block was has also been on the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for six semesters while being placed on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for two semesters. As a junior, Block was tabbed for the NEWISA All-Conference third team and NE-10 All-Conference third team.

Duserick

Duserick was tabbed on the NE-10 All-Conference first team for her second Conference accolade, as she was named NE-10 Defensive Player of the Week earlier this year for helping the team to two of its nine shutouts and recording two assists in the victories. Duserick was placed on the Catholic Cup All-Tournament team helping Stonehill to its first Catholic Cup title. The senior has tallied her second-career goal this season, while also assisting scores five times.

As a sophomore and junior, Duserick was named to the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for three semesters. The senior has been a strong force in the Skyhawks backline this season, as she has been a catalyst offensive and defensively, helping the team blank nine opponents and see its most successful season since 1999.

Kapatoes earns a spot on the All-NE-10 honors for the second time in her career, garnering first-team honors this time around. The senior was named the Catholic Cup MVP this season, assisting Stonehill to its first Catholic Cup Championship. She tallied a goal in the first game versus Assumption College and then recording the game-winner in the second game against Saint Anselm College. Kapatoes is tied for first on the team in goals with six, while she leads the squad in points with 14.

In her career, Kapatoes was placed on the NE-10 All-Rookie team her freshman year, as she has put on the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for six semesters and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll for two semesters.

O'Brien earns a spot on the All-NE-10 team for the third time on the second team, recording awards her sophomore, junior and now senior seasons. O'Brien has been another component of the backline that has stopped nine opponents from scoring this season. She also notched the game winner against Merrimack College to give Stonehill the home-field advantage to kick off playoffs.

As a freshman and sophomore, O'Brien was named to the NEWISA All-New England second team, while adding first team to her list of accolades her junior year. Sophomore year, O'Brien garnered NSCAA/Continental Tire All-East Region third team. The West Hartford, Conn. Native has started in every game since her freshman year, helping the Skyhawks to its best season since 1999.

Campo earns a spot on the All-NE-10 third team for her first-career conference honor. The sophomore has been one of Stonehill's midfielders assisting in on all possible accounts. The Quincy, Mass. native tallied her first-career goal and game winner this season in the quarterfinal NE-10 game against Saint Rose, giving Stonehill its ninth shutout of the year season. The sophomore has been at the forefront of every play, as the team has earned national rankings this season, including tying for its best mark of fourth from back in 1999.

Geraghty earns a spot on the All-NE-10 All-Rookie team for her first-career conference honor. The freshman has recorded three goals this season, tallying two versus Molloy earlier in the year. Geraghty also helped Stonehill to a 4-3 victory over No. 5 Adelphi, as her goal cut the deficit to one in the first half. The Bridgewater, Mass. native has also been a key component of Stonehill's midfield, driving the ball forward, keeping it from the Skyhawks' defensive third.

Stonehill (13-5-1, 8-5-1) faces top-seeded Adelphi University Friday, November 4 in a NE-10 Semifinal matchup at 4 p.m. The winner will advance to Sunday's NE-10 Championship against the winner of Friday's other semifinal matchup between sixth-seeded Pace University and seventh-seeded Le Moyne College, hosted by the highest remaining seed.
