EASTON, Mass. (September 8, 2016) – The Stonehill women's soccer team surpassed Molloy College, 3-0, Thursday evening at Skyhawk Field.

Stonehill (3-0-0) freshman Nicole Geraghty (Bridgewater, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham Regional) recorded her first and second collegiate goals in the victory, while Meredith Moore (Salem, Conn./East Lyme) tallied her first goal of the season and first penalty kick of her career.

Molloy (0-3-1) goalkeeper Brianna Wilson registered 13 saves in the loss.

After 44 minutes of scoreless action and a Skyhawk 14-8 shot advantage, Moore lifted the ball over Wilson for her first penalty kick giving Stonehill the advantage, 1-0, after Molloy picked up a foul inside the 18-yard box.

The Skyhawk offense continued to persist in the second half as a 14-2 shot difference carried Stonehill to two more goals. At the 61st minute, junior Taylor Shannahan (Mendham, N.J./Morris Catholic) rocketed a shot, which ricocheted off the crossbar and landed at the feet of Geraghty. Geraghty reacted right away and placed the ball passed Wilson for a 2-0 lead.

Molloy got a shot off at the 81st minute that went slightly wide of the goal. Senior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Mass./Georgetown) took the kick, which sailed across the field at the feet of Geraghty and her defender. The freshman maneuvered the ball with her speed past Molloy, where she was able to find the back of the net at 81:02, breaking open the game for the Skyhawks, 3-0.

Molloy would not see its side of the field for the rest of the game, as Stonehill was able to get off three more shots before the final horn.

Stonehill is back in action Saturday, September 10 as it hosts LIU Post at 12:30 p.m. at Skyhawk Field for its last non-conference game of the season.
