COLCHESTER, Vt. (October 3, 2015) – Junior midfielder Andrea Mancuso (Highland Mills, New York/Cornwall Central) scored a first half goal and junior goalkeeper Jamie Block (Georgetown, Massachusetts/Georgetown) posted a three-save shutout, leading Stonehill College to a 1-0 victory at Saint Michael's College this afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action at Duffy Field.

Block made two saves in the first half and one in the second en route to her fourth clean sheet of the season and the eighth of her career.

Stonehill opened the scoring in the 28th minute, when sophomore forward Taylor Shannahan (Mendham, New Jersey/Morris Catholic) played a through ball to Mancuso, who was sent on a breakaway before beating Saint Michael's freshman goalkeeper Megan LeCours (Barre, Vermont/Spaulding) for her first goal of the season.

LeCours made one save in the first half for the Purple Knights, and kept the home team in the game over the final 45 minutes by turning aside three more shots.

Stonehill nearly added a late goal, as senior forward Meagan Elliott (Norton, Massachusetts/Norton) took a corner kick at the 87:29 mark before putting a shot on net 36 seconds later, but LeCours stopped the attempt to keep the Purple Knights' deficit at one.

The Skyhawks outshot Saint Michael's by a 14-7 margin over the course of the contest, while the Purple Knights held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Stonehill (3-5-2, 2-3-1 NE-10) will look to build on today's victory when Bentley University visits Skyhawk Field on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Saint Michael's (1-8-1, 0-7 NE-10) is also back in action on Tuesday at American International College.
