Stonehill Edges Adelphi, 1-0, In Overtime

Moodie scores game-winner in 94th minute of the contest

Sophomore Christine Moodie scored the game-winning goal for Stonehill, her sixth marker this season, at the 93:34 mark of the contest.

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (October 27, 2012) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team claimed a 1-0 overtime victory over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Saturday afternoon at Motamed Field.

Sophomore midfielder Christine Moodie (Littleton, Mass./Littleton) netted the game-winning goal at the 93:34 mark on a feed from classmate Maddie Manning (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth). Moodie tallied her sixth goal of the season with a shot from the left side of the box after Manning served a pass from the opposite side of the scoring area.

Junior captain and goalkeeper Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) turned away three shots to record her eighth shutout of the season and 15th overall in her career.

Panthers second-year goalkeeper Sam Whitney (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) made two saves in the loss.

Adelphi held a 14-10 advantage in shots on the afternoon and won the corners matchup by a slim 4-3 margin.

Stonehill concludes its season at 6-5-6 overall and 5-5-5 in the NE-10. Adelphi (9-6-3, 6-6-3 NE-10) awaits its opponent in the quarterfinal round of the NE-10 Tournament with a time to be determined later.
