Stonehill, Saint Anselm Play To Scoreless Draw

Wheaton turns away seven shots for Skyhawks

MANCHESTER, N.H. (October 24, 2012) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Saint Anselm College on Wednesday evening in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Melucci Field.

The Skyhawks have now played in eight overtime games this season compiling a 1-1-6 record overall during that span. Four of those ties have ended in scoreless draws while two of those contests have finished play knotted at a 1-1 score.

Stonehill junior captain and goalkeeper Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) earned her seventh shutout of the season, 14th career, with seven saves. Wheaton made six stops in the second stanza and one in the last overtime session.

Hawks sophomore goalkeeper Gabriella Primera (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) stopped ten shots total with three saves coming in the opening half, six in the second half and one in the first overtime session.

Senior captain and back Allison Nagle (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield), sophomore midfielder Jordan Bell (Pemberton, N.J/Holy Cross) and freshman back Melissa Laubi (Bridgewater, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham) all registered two shots on goal for the Skyhawks to tie for the team-high on the evening.

Stonehill outshot Saint Anselm, 18-17, but lost the corners matchup, 5-1.

The Skyhawks (5-5-6, 4-5-5 NE-10) travel to Adelphi University on Saturday, October 27 for an NE-10 matchup at 1 p.m. The Hawks (4-7-5, 3-6-5 NE-10) visit Le Moyne College on Saturday at noon.
