EASTON, Mass. (October 20, 2012) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team fell to the defending NCAA Division II national champions and no. 17 ranked team in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll, The College of Saint Rose, by a 2-0 score in Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) action on Saturday afternoon at Skyhawk Field on "Senior Day."

Prior to the contest, seniors Allison Nagle (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield), Sara Nagle (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) and Gina Patronaggio (Massapequa, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) were all honored for their contributions towards the Stonehill College women's soccer program.

Golden Knights junior forward Carmelina Puopolo (Scarborough, Ontario/Cardinal Newman) tallied one goal and one assist to lead the visitors offensively.

Freshman back Amanda Vazquez (Tustin, Calif./Foothill) opened up the scoring in the 4^th minute for Saint Rose as she finished on a Puopolo cross from the left flank, her sixth goal of the season.

At the 69:02 mark, sophomore forward Brittany Barry (Springfield, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson) fed Puopolo with a short pass inside the box for her team-leading 15^th marker of the season and a 2-0 lead.

Junior goalkeeper Jessica Gerski (Harbor City, Calif./Bishop Montgomery) made four saves in net for the Golden Knights to record her fourth shutout this fall. Junior captain and goalkeeper Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) turned away seven shots for the Skyhawks.

Saint Rose outshot Stonehill, 14-8, and held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Stonehill (5-5-5, 4-5-4 NE-10) travel to Saint Anselm College on Wednesday, October 24 for an NE-10 clash at 4 p.m. Saint Rose (13-1-2, 10-1-2 NE-10) visit the University of New Haven on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Notes: Golden Knights head coach Laurie Darling Gutheil earned her 250^th-career coaching win. Darling Gutheil is now only one of ten active coaches to reach this milestone in NCAA Division women's soccer.
