Sara Nagle nets game-tying goal in 17th minute

 
Senior back Sara Nagle notched her first goal of the season in the 17th minute for Stonehill.

EASTON, Mass. (October 11, 2012) – The Stonehill College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in non-conference action on Thursday evening at Skyhawk Field.

Senior back and captain Sara Nagle (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) tied the game in the 17th minute finishing on a corner kick from classmate and co-captain Allison Nagle (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield) with a header into the lower right corner of the net for her first goal of the season and third career marker.

Bridgeport took a 1-0 lead at 8:29 as freshman midfielder/forward Gabby Reis' (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) cross into the box was kicked into Stonehill's net on a clear attempt from a Skyhawks defender for an own goal.

Stonehill dominated play for the remainder of the contest after the score was locked in at 1-1 recording five corners and 11 shots (two on goal).

Junior goalkeeper and co-captain Amy Wheaton (Dartmouth, Mass./Dartmouth) turned away three shots while Purple Knights goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden/Tocksfors) also made three saves in the draw.

The Skyhawks outshot the opposition, 14-5, and won the corners matchup, 7-0.

Stonehill (5-3-4, 4-3-3 NE-10) visits Southern Connecticut State University for an Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) clash on Saturday, October 13 at 7 p.m. Bridgeport (6-4-2, 4-1-0 ECC) hosts Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday, October 14 at 3 p.m.
