Nagle and Mahoney both earn second career All NE-10 awards

EASTON, Mass. (November 4, 2011) – Three members of the Stonehill College women's soccer team have earned postseason honors from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) as selected by the league's 16 head coaches.
Junior back Sara Nagle (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) has garnered NE-10 First Team honors for the first time in her career while senior forward/midfielder Kelsey Mahoney (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) collected her second career NE-10 Third Team award.
Freshman midfielder Maddie Manning (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) has earned NE-10 All-Rookie Team honors becoming the third player in program history to be named to the All-Rookie squad and first player since 2009 when Nagle was selected.
Nagle, who earned NE-10 Third Team honors last season, guided a Stonehill back line that led the league in conference play for goals against average (GAA) slightly edging out the no. 1 seeded Golden Knights of The College of Saint Rose 0.58 GAA to 0.59 GAA. The Skyhawks defense only allowed nine goals in conference play tying for the league lead with the Golden Knights and Southern Connecticut State University.
Overall on the season, Nagle's defensive play helped Stonehill to compile 10 shutouts and a scoreless streak of 430 consecutive minutes spanning from September 11 to September 25. During that span, the Skyhawks went 4-0-1 overall with all four wins coming against conference opponents. All four games were 1-0 victories for Stonehill.
Mahoney picks up her second career NE-10 Third Team selection after leading Stonehill in points with 13 total on five goals and three assists in only 14 games played. Mahoney, who also earned NE-10 Third Team honors in 2009, has scored one game-winner this fall coming in a 3-1 win over Saint Michael's College on the road. Mahoney factored into all three scoring plays in the contest on September 9 netting a pair of markers and dishing out one assist setting her season-high for points in a game with five total.
Over her four year career at Stonehill, Mahoney has scored 16 goals and dished out 23 assists for 55 points in 69 games played. Mahoney has netted four game-winners, has earned NE-10 All-Academic Team honors and was named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England Second Team in 2010.
Manning led all freshmen on the team in scoring this season with two goals and two assists for six points in 19 games played, all from the midfield. Both of Manning's goals were game-winners as the freshman midfielder deposited her first game-winning goal on September 11 in a 1-0 win over Adelphi University striking a shot into the top left corner of the net from about 18-yards out at the 87:23 mark.
Against Southern Connecticut on September 25 in a 1-0 victory, Manning scored the eventual game-winning goal at 68:20 beating a defender just outside the right corner of the penalty box and roofing a shot into the upper left corner of the net.
Stonehill (11-6-2, 9-5-2 NE-10) has advanced to the semifinal round of the NE-10 Tournament after claiming a 3-2 victory over fourth-seeded Southern Connecticut on Tuesday at Jess Dow Field. The Skyhawks play no.1 seeded Saint Rose (17-1-1, 13-1-1 NE-10), looking to capture its fifth-straight NE-10 championship this season, tonight at the Plumeri Sports Complex at 4 p.m.
