St. Martin nominated for second time; Mahoney, Nagle earn first selections

EASTON, Mass. (December 7, 2010) – Three members of the Stonehill College women's soccer team have been selected to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England Team, as determined this week by a vote of NEWISA member head coaches. Senior forward Kirstie St. Martin (Providence, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) was a first team honoree, and junior midfielder Kelsey Mahoney (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth) and sophomore back Sara Nagle (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) were named to the second team.

St. Martin makes her second consecutive appearance on the first team after recording career highs of 15 goals and seven assists for 37 points this season, ranking second in the Northeast-10 Conference in scoring and earning a spot on the All-Conference squad. She concludes her Stonehill career with a total of 40 goals and 18 assists for 98 points, ranking second in program history in career goals and points.

St. Martin earns her fourth regional honor of the season, after she was a first-time selection to the Daktronics All-East Region second team and the ESPN Academic All-District I third team last month, and earlier this week was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II All-East Region second team for the second straight year.

Mahoney is a first-time nominee to the second team. She scored four goals and added six assists for the Skyhawks this season, earning her first selection to the All-Conference squad. Mahoney posted three games with both a goal and an assist, and put together a four-game point streak in September to help Stonehill to a winning start in conference competition. She also scored the Skyhawks' lone goal against top-ranked The College of Saint Rose in their October 2 matchup.

Nagle also makes her first appearance on the second team, after also earning her first All-Conference nomination this season. She led a Skyhawk defense which this year posted five shutouts and compiled a team goals against average of 1.18, a tenth of a goal better than last year's mark and nearly a full goal better than two years ago. Nagle also recorded two assists during the season, including one on the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over the University of Bridgeport on October 13.

Stonehill posted a final record of 8-8-2, finishing tenth in the NE-10 standings.
