St. Martin Named Northeast-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week


Senior captain scores six goals as Skyhawks go 2-1

EASTON, Mass. (September 13, 2010) – Stonehill College senior Kirstie St. Martin (Providence, R.I./Mount Saint Charles Academy) was today named the Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week by the conference office.

St. Martin scored six goals for Stonehill, two of them game-winners, and added an assist for a total of 13 points during the week.

She netted three first-half goals in Tuesday’s 5-1 victory over Southern New Hampshire University, and followed it up by scoring both goals in Stonehill’s 2-1 victory over Saint Michael’s College on Friday. With the Skyhawks down 1-0 to Saint Michael’s early in the first half, St. Martin tied the game in the 29th minute, and netted the winner in the 89th minute to give Stonehill the come-from-behind victory.

Through Stonehill’s first five games, St. Martin currently shares the NE-10 lead in goals with seven and in game-winning goals with two, and is the outright points leader with 17.

Stonehill (3-2, 2-1 NE-10) travels to UMass-Lowell this Wednesday for a 7 p.m. matchup, and next plays at home on Saturday against Pace University at 2 p.m.
