Lowell, Mass. - UMass-Lowell freshman Kaitlynn McHugh setup the River Hawks first goal then scored the equalizer in the 88th minute, as UML rallied to tie visiting Stonehill on Saturday afternoon.

The scene was eerily similar to Wednesday when the Skyhawks dropped a heartbreaker to Bridgeport when the Purple Knights scored a goal in the 86th minute to steal a 2-1 victory.

Stonehill got off to an early start when sophomore Caitlin McEvily (New Rochelle, N.Y.) deflected freshman Kelsey Mahoney's (Rehoboth, Mass.) cross for a 1-0 Skyhawk lead less than six minutes into the match.

The River Hawks then struck in the waning moments of the first half when McHugh and Kelly Soper set up freshman Hannah Merullo's first collegiate goal.

The Skyhawks answered back in the early portion of the second half as Kirstie St. Martin (Providence, R.I.) took a feed from freshman Alexandra Murphy (Weymouth, Mass.) and deposited the go-ahead goal.

McHugh then sent the match into extra time in the 88th minute when Soper took a throw from senior Natalia Mendoza rounded a defender and crossed to McHugh, whose header leveled at 2-2.

The River Hawks outshot Stonehill 20-11 overall. Stonehill's goaltending combination of Marissa Bramwell (Norton, Mass.) and freshman Sarah Hickey (Lee, Mass.) each had four saves, while Jamie Gillis halted two shots for UMass Lowell.

Stonehill, now 1-1-1, returns to action on Tuesday when they play host to American International at 4 p.m. on Skyhawk Field.
