Stonehill Falls to Undefeated C.W. Post

Brookville, N.Y - A lone goal from Kristie St. Martin (Lincoln, R.I) was not enough as the Stonehill squad came up short against C.W Post, 2-1.  For the third time this season the women's team loses by a mere goal.

The first half was dictated by strong defensive performances from both goalkeepers. Stonehill's Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) turned away five shots in the first half and six for the game, while Kim Yacenda collected eight saves on the day.

The scoring started early in the second half when Pioneers sophomore Lindsey Nick kicked in an unassisted goal.  The Skyhawks wasted no time answering back with a goal from St. Martin, on an assist by classmate Caitlin McEvily (New Rochelle, N.Y.).

C.W. Post put away any doubts midway through the half when freshman Danielle DeLuca scored the game-winning goal.

The Pioneers pushed their unbeaten streak to eight games and improve to 4-0-2, while Stonehill stands at 1-3, 1-1 NE-10.  The Stonehill will host Saint Michael's, Saturday at 1:00pm at Skyhawk Field.
