LOWELL, Mass.-- Goals by freshman Colleen Fitzpatrick (Tewksbury, Mass.) and junior Tanekar Alexander (Warwick, R.I.) that came 2:31 apart early in the first half lifted UMass Lowell to a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer victory over Stonehill in the regular season finale for both squads Saturday afternoon at Cushing Field.

Fitzpatrick gave the host River Hawks (10-4-3, 10-3-1 Northeast-10) the only goal they would need in the 15th minute when she converted a feed from senior Jamie Lynn Cathcart (Hollis, N.H.) for her second tally of the season, and Alexander provided insurance just two-and-a-half minutes later when she took a pass from senior Tricia Auld (Waltham, Mass.) for her sixth goal of the year to close out the scoring.

Freshman Jamie Gillis (North Billerica, Mass.) made three saves to pick up the shutout win in goal for UMass Lowell, while junior Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) made one stop in net for the visiting Skyhawks (6-5-4, 5-5-4 Northeast-10) as Stonehill outshot the River Hawks by a 10-9 margin for the match.

Stonehill will make its first appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships in five years next week, as the Skyhawks are seeded seventh in this year's tournament and will take on second-seeded Franklin Pierce in quarterfinal round action on Tuesday afternoon at Sodexho Field in Rindge, N.H. beginning at 4:00 p.m. UMass Lowell grabbed the third seed in the league tournament and will host sixth-seeded Saint Anselm Tuesday afternoon.
