EASTON, Mass.-- Junior Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) made four saves to pick up her third shutout of the season and eighth of her career as Stonehill battled Southern Connecticut to a scoreless double overtime Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer tie Saturday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.
The host Skyhawks (3-2-3, 2-2-3 Northeast-10) held a 16-13 advantage in shots over the visiting Owls (3-5-1, 0-5-1 Northeast-10), including a 5-1 edge in the extra sessions, but were unable to capitalize on several solid chances, including a pair in the late stages of the first overtime. Southern Connecticut held a 12-11 edge in shots in regulation, including an 8-5 margin in the second half, as graduate student Stephanie Lyons (Kent, Wash.) made nine stops in net for the Owls on the afternoon.
