COLCHESTER, Vt.-- First half goals that came 2:29 apart early in the match proved to be the only scoring as Stonehill and Saint Michael's battled to a 1-1 double overtime Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer tie Saturday afternoon at Duffy Field.

Junior Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass.) staked the visiting Skyhawks (3-1-2, 2-1-2 Northeast-10) to an early 1-0 lead just 7:10 into the match when she converted a pass from sophomore Janine Connors (Holliston, Mass.) for her sixth tally of the season, but the host Purple Knights (3-4-1, 1-3-1 Northeast-10) evened matters at the 9:39 mark when sophomore Kelley Ruch (Woodstock, Vt.) took a feed from freshman Alicia Baxter (Waltham, Mass.). The two teams played scoreless soccer for the final 100-plus minutes, with each squad having two shots on net in the two extra sessions.

Junior Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) made one save on the day in goal for Stonehill, while junior Gillian Goldman (Stratham, N.H.) made six stops in net for Saint Michael's, including one of Boyd from point blank range in the second overtime, as the Skyhawks outshot the Purple Knights by a 15-8 margin.

Stonehill hosts Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 outing on Wednesday afternoon at Skyhawk Field beginning at 4:00 p.m., while Saint Michael's heads to Albany, N.Y. on Wednesday afternoon to take on Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 match that begins at 4:15 p.m.
