NEW CASTLE, Del.-- Sophomore Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass.) netted a pair of goals and added an assist for five points as Stonehill made Head Coach Rolando Lopes’s debut on the sidelines successful with a 4-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Goldey-Beacom Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field.

Senior Kate Sarkissian (Sandwich, Mass.) staked the visiting Skyhawks (1-0) to an early 1-0 edge when she converted a Boyd feed 9:49 into the contest, and Boyd extended Stonehill’s edge to 2-0 in the 61st minute on an assist from junior Caitlin Green (Bedford, N.H.). Sophomore Ashley Bourne’s (Brockton, Mass.) goal in the 75th minute gave the visitors a 3-0 cushion, and Boyd closed out the scoring for the visitors with nine minutes to play on a feed from senior Kate McCarthy (North Easton, Mass.).

Sophomore Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Stonehill with a four-save effort, while junior Stephanie Steele (Wilmington, Del.) made 14 stops in net for the host Lightning (0-3) as the Skyhawks outshot Goldey-Beacom by a 22-6 margin in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

Stonehill heads to Wilmington, Del. on Sunday afternoon to take on Wilmington in a non-league match that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Goldey-Beacom hosts Delaware State in a non-league match on Tuesday evening at 5:00 p.m. at Pioneer Field.
