RINDGE, N.H.-- Senior Laura Hislop (Belfast, Northern Ireland) netted a pair of goals and added an assist for a five-point afternoon to lead 10th-ranked Franklin Pierce to a 3-1 Northeast-10 Conference women’s soccer victory over Stonehill Wednesday afternoon at Sodexho Field.

Hislop had a hand in all three tallies on the day for the host Ravens (6-1-1, 4-1-1 Northeast-10), who found themselves trailing quickly when sophomore Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass.) converted a feed from senior Kate McCarthy (North Easton, Mass.) to give the visiting Skyhawks (5-1-1, 3-1-1 Northeast-10) an early 1-0 cushion just 11 seconds into the contest, the fastest goal in Stonehill history.

Hislop evened matters for Franklin Pierce in the 16th minute of play on a feed from fellow senior Sonya Hughes (Balbriggan, Ireland), and Hughes gave the hosts a 2-1 cushion at the break with the go-ahead goal that came in the 23rd minute on feeds from Hislop and junior Leanne Bowler (Clonalvy, Ireland). Hislop iced maters for the Ravens with just under 11 minutes remaining in the match with an unassisted tally to close out the scoring.

Sophomore Jenna Mello (Londonderry, N.H.) picked up the win in goal for Franklin Pierce (ranked second in the NSCAA Division II New England Regional poll), while sophomore Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.), this week’s Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week, made eight stops in net for Stonehill (rated fifth in the New England Regional rankings) as the Ravens outshot the Skyhawks by an 18-6 margin for the match.

Stonehill travels to New Haven, Conn. on Saturday afternoon to take on Southern Connecticut in a Northeast-10 match that begins at 4:00 p.m., while Franklin Pierce will be idle until next Wednesday afternoon when the Ravens travel to North Andover, Mass. to take on Merrimack in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 3:30 p.m.
